Secrets of Troll – A Nordland Chronicles Tale 0.01

About 400 years ago, a catastrophic world event occurred.
Few records remain, but the event severely diminished the human population.
You begin in the northern mainland part of the known world, also known as Nordland.
Since Nordland is a peninsula where many savages trafficked the woods to get there, the original settlers mainly traveled there by ship.
Many years later, trade is seeing steady growth, but with the still ongoing threat of savage or brigand attack, it remains a high-risk trip.
SpoilerThe rule in Nordland is strict and fierce, and unless you are of noble birth or have somehow come into a position of wealth or power, you don’t have many rights.

You (the main character) come from Arland, a small settlement in the northwest part of Nordland,
where you’ve lived daily doing whatever small job you came across to earn enough to survive.
Then, one day, you witness the situation of a boy caught by a merchant stealing a couple of apples. Theft to survive starvation is not uncommon,
but when the guards took the kid’s beating too far, you could not idly watch any longer and stepped in.
It did not take long before guards pinned you down, but at least the kid got away during the brawl. You are reported as a criminal and will be sent to Sortland, the capital, to determine your punishment.
